A pair of Dutch pranksters had fun with foodies recently, serving standard McDonald’s burgers, muffins, and nuggets at an organic food fair in the Netherlands. The video of the taste testers’ reactions is quite interesting: when tasters were told the food was an “organic alternative to fast food,” tasters responded with comments about how “pure” the food tasted. Not all the reviews were glowing, but the video is an excellent example of how important branding and perception of food can be and why some people will pay more for a product labeled “organic” even when there are no real nutritional differences between organic and conventional food.
